Support? I head Okada was getting death threats from her fans?

There was a thread on r/squaredcircle about it.

There's some disturbing stuff on twitter, too. But that doesn't mean she can't thank those of us who do support her and her companion. I'm glad she heard our voices.

Glad that there are some fans who don't get angry when their "idol" enters a romantic relationship.

Probably the most unwise idea of the month, they won't be too to be high and mighty once these dumb fans get pounded in the pavement. Chances are these fans aren't bodybuilders, gang members, or any type of fighter in general.

They know what Okada can do.

I’m glad they’re getting support. And hey, it’s not like he did it at Wrestle Kingdom.

Why would she need to apologize? What she does and who she dates shouldn't be under the control of her fans. Confused

Some people need to grow up, she's like in her 30s let her have a relationship. Its not like she's some 17 year old in a relationship with a guy thats significantly older. Rolling Eyes

Yeah but what can you expect when Japan's idol culture is so bad, some 'fans' will even burn their merchandise because some dare be in a real life relationship.
Also, check this fan who ships real people and actually got upset when said seiyuu got engaged IRL

Even the people in the comments are calling her creepy

Real life shippers are the worst. It's super creepy and I can never understand how people can be so deluded as to think it's okay to extend their fantasies about character personas onto their actors.

Yeah and from what I've seen on Tumblr, it's common in the Kpop fandom

Very happy for these two and how they handled the situation. I wish them good luck in their relationship.

I was hoping that maybe Mimori was old enough that there wouldn't be much outrage but I guess not. And yet when Minami Kuribayashi announced that she had been keeping the birth of her child a secret people were calling it a publicity stunt. Rolling Eyes

I'm always happy when my favorite seiyuu announce they're in relationships. It makes me happy to think that people I like are happy. I guess I can kind of remember being 15 and being jealous that my favorite rock star had a new wife. But people thinking that these people "owe" it to their fans to not have their own lives to the point of death threats... it blows my mind. How did so many people get to be so messed up...

It's honestly disgusting how people create slash shippings with real people. I once knew someone who'd ship the members of the Spanish Football team right after they won the 2010 World Cup. All I could think of was "WHY?! They're already married and proven straight!", and even called this person a futjoshi (fútbol + fujoshi).

......I knew people ship RL people but I didn't think it would go to football. Strange if you ask me. If they are married then they are married. No need to ship them.

I admit it, I kinda ship one RL couple but they are married and so happy with each other. Another is two best friends. I don't think of them romantically together but just as a deep and wonderful bond, the two have. I don't think I could ever ship RL people. Simply of the fact that they are actual humans. Humans, we don't really know their personality, thoughts, and feelings. Its really out of our control and we shouldn't if we had the chance. Fictional characters I get since we know their personalities, thoughts, and feelings. People write them out but eh. I am fine if they do ship as long as they aren't sending death threats or really harm anyone. Just keep it really personal, if you ask me.

Exactly. To be completely blunt, most populations of irrational fans are weak, puny, and less than average in strength.
