So that is where the name for his old doujin series, 'Chosen Ame', came from.

Hope he can promote more of his other works, now that the 'kickstarter' has brought his name back to the fore.

The name of the founder of the Sonoda-ya confectionery is 園田武衛門, and Ms Loveridge has read the given name of the founder as 'Takeeto'. But 'Takeeto' seems to be strange to the eye of a person who is familiar with the Japanese language and Japanese culture.
Actually, the way to read the Japanese name '武衛門' is 'Takeemon' or 'Buemon'.
For example, rikishi (sumo wrestler) 鞆ノ平武右衛門 is 'Tomonohira Takeemon'. Sculptor 鈴木武右衛門 is 'Suzuki Buemon'. A character in Wagahai wa Neko dearu by Natsume Sōseki is 古井武右衛門 Furui Buemon.
Natsume Sōseki wrote:
　「うむ。どんな事かね。さあ話し玉へ」と云ふと武右衛門[the furugana is ぶゑもん]君下を向いたぎり何も言はない。元來武右衛門君は中學の二年生にしてはよく辯ずる方で、頭の大きい割に腦力は發達して居らんが、喋舌る事に於ては乙組中鏘々たるものである。

('武右衛門' is a variant 'kanji spelling' of '武衛門'.)
The Japanese word '衛門 (Emon)' is a term which means (the office of) an Imperial-Guard unit of the Imperial Court in ancient times. In Japan, via Imperial-Court officers' titles derived from the names of their offices, the names of offices of the Imperial Court later came to be used as word components which composed 'given names'. The '衛門 (emon)' part in '武衛門/武右衛門 (Takeemon or Buemon)' is one of those words that became word components of given names.
So it is unlikely that a person who is knowledgeable about the Japanese language and Japanese culture reads the name '武衛門' as 'Takeeto'.
Doraemon and 21-emon are well-known manga characters in their eponymous manga created by manga-ka Fujiko F. Fujio, and the '-emon' component in their names, too, is this Japanese term which had meant an Imperial-Guard unit and later became a word component of given names.
