They are. A "Metaverse" is just an online game like World of Warcraft or Final Fantasy 14, but more focused on the social aspect.

A "Metaverse" is a virtual space specifically made to homogenize and market products to users more easily.

I'm pretty sure they have been building these virtual things for ages now. I remember them having one during every hobby show or convention to show off their new products for people who can't attend to see. Only difference now is that they decide to call it the "metaverse" and expand it to outside Gunpla and figures.

Bandai makes like billions off gunpla so i dont think this cost is a big deal to them. They are the second largest toymaker after lego.

Boring

That money could be used to port their latest Gundam arcade titles to PS5, PS4, and PC or to improve our current technology to make our current mecha in the real world practical.

They’re worth over 6 or so billion dollars so this won’t hurt them too badly if it fails.

people may not realize this, but Bandai is actually one of the worst companies to handle gaming period. They killed the Naruto and Dragon Ball TCG when everyone was getting into Naruto, killed countless gacha games to push out newer ones.

That's because the Japanese TCG space is oversaturated, gacha is oversaturated in many genres (thankfully they own Idolm@ster, a too big to fail idol franchise).

Not exactly. Be aware bandai killed the naruto tcg around the same time cardfight vanguard was starting. Naruto is a far bigger ip than vanguard so you expect it to last longer. What bandai did is burn through their entire naruto franchise to force stores and players out of their money. Once they burn through the franchise, they kill the game and try for another one. Bushiroad fails because they lack big name ips. Bandai intentionally milks big ips for money and moves on to the next. This is why konami has done far better than bandai in the card game world. A lot of the tcg community will tell you how bad bandai is and i have been in the tcg community for 6+ years.
