Wai-Con 2005 Madman Entertainment

by Jon Hayward,
At Wai-Con 2005 in Western Australia (held on 10 and 11 December 2005), Sylvester Ip of Madman made several announcements which include:

Samurai Champloo is confirmed to start broadcast on the free-to-air channel SBS in 2006.

Fullmetal Alchemist will start broadcast on the local cable channel Cartoon Network on 4 January 2006.

Gravitation TV is finally going to be released in Australia due to the success of a petition passed around between fangirls earlier this year. It will be released in a box set on 29 March 2006 and there is the possibility of Madman releasing merchandise based on the series including plushies and keychains.

Kyo kara Maoh! will start to be released on 29 March 2006 and will continue for six volumes.

May 2006 will be Rumiko Takashi month with the first Inuyasha movie being released to DVD on the 11th of May along with the first Inuyasha box set and the first Ranma = TV box set.

Now, for some strange reason there will be no releases in April 2006, with two release dates occurring in March, those being March 15th and March 29th. Basically the April releases will come on on the 29th of March instead. But April 2006 has been declared "Boys Love Month" due to Gravitation and Kyo kara Maoh! being released in the same month.

Manga release schedule details:
  • Samurai Champloo, volume one in February 2006 and volume two in March 2006.
  • Trinity Blood, release starting in 2006

New licence acquisitions, to be released sometime in 2006, but with no confirmed dates as of yet:
