The girls of the upcoming, new Wake Up, Girls! television anime are coming out for the "JoJo Fest in S City Morioh Town" event on August 12. Well, they might not all be at the event itself but they are the subject of a special illustration mimicking the series' Stand-like poses. You can also spot the Joestar birthmark on the characters' necks.
The three-dimensional Wake Up, Girls also posed for a collaboration image.
The Wake Up, Girls! anime series takes place in Sendai, the biggest city in Japan's northeastern Tohoku region. It just so happens that Sendai is the host city for the JoJo event. Sendai is the birthplace of the original creator of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Hirohiko Araki, and also served as the inspiration for the setting of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable, Morioh.
The "JoJo Fest in S City Morioh Town will host an exhibition celebrating the series 30th anniversary starting August 12 and will run until September 10. The exhibition is not a recreation of the previous one held in 2012, but an all new event.
A live-action film, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond wa Kudakenai Dai-Ichi-Shō (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable Chapter I), is coming to theaters in Japan on August 4.
The new Wake Up, Girls! anime replaces former director Yutaka Yamamoto with Shin Itagaki (Berserk, Teekyū). Yamakan, known for his outspoken internet presence, publicly announced he has cut ties from the franchise.
