Ryōma is a tennis prodigy in Takeshi Konomi manga and anime series. The series is popular with real-life tennis players, including Kei Nishikori. Both Nishikori and Osaka starred in Prince of Tennis cross over ads with Nissin Foods but the ads were pulled amid controversy that Osaka's character was white-washed.
Osaka's father is Haitian-American and her mother is Japanese. She was born in Japan but her family moved to America when she was 3-years-old. She's a self-proclaimed fan of manga and Japanese film.
