Gundam Ride Horses In Ridiculous Gundam Seed x JRA Visual

posted on by Kim Morrissy

The Gundam franchise has had numerous collaborations with the Japan Racing Association over the years, but this latest Gundam Seed collaboration may have produced its funniest visual yet. The official key visual shows Kira and Athrun posing while their corresponding mobile suits are floating in the air while on horseback. (Admittedly, the Gundam 00 x JRA visual also exists and is great.)

Don't overlook the video commercial either, which plays out like a Gundam Seed opening, complete with the first opening song "Invoke" by T.M. Revolution. You can even see a common visual technique employed by the Gundam Seed openings, where the character art is super-imposed over action footage - except in this case, it's horse-racing footage rather than giant robot action. The commercial is narrated by Kira's voice actor Sōichiro Hoshi and Athrun's voice actor Akira Ishida.

As for the collaboration itself, it will involve a giveaway of a unique horse-themed Gunpla. The JRA has launched a special website with a picture of Lacus and Haro. Simply follow the prompts and you'll receive a ticket to enter the draw. Share your ticket on Twitter by October 27 and check the results of the Tenno Sho horse race at 3:40 pm that day. Three people whose bracket matches the winning results will receive a JRA Original Gunpla: HGCE 1/144 Kitasan Black Original Strike Freedom Gundam, an image of which is shown below. Kitasan Black is a Japanese thoroughbred racehorse which won the JRA Award for Japanese Horse of the Year in both 2016 and 2017.

In addition, 1,000 t-shirts with the Gundam Seed x JRA key visual will be given out as a lottery prize to those who apply for it at the Tokyo Racecourse on November 17.
