Viz Media's digital manga magazine Weekly Shonen Jump announced on Monday that Viz will publish Takeshi Obata and Tsugumi Ohba's Platinum End manga simultaneous with Japan. Each chapter will be sold separately for US$0.99.
The manga is formally launching in the December issue of Shueisha's Jump SQ. magazine on November 4, and Viz will publish the chapter the same day. The 45th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump previewed the first eight pages of the story on Monday.
The story will be about "angels and humans" and will center around Mirai Kakehashi, a boy who "does not seek out hope in order to live."
In addition, Viz's Weekly Shonen Jump will offer Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto's debut one-shot Karakuri on Monday, October 12. Weekly Shonen Jump published the short in Japan in 1998, and it won Kishimoto the Hop Step Award for new manga artists. It has not previously been published in English.
