Salón del Manga de Barcelona in Spain this Weekend

posted on by Christopher Macdonald
Inio Asano, Io Sakisaka and Tetsuya Tashiro will attend Spain's largest anime/manga convention this weekend.

The Salón del Manga de Barcelona, Spain's largest anime and manga event, will take place in Barcelona from October 29th to November 1st.

With over 130,000 attendees in 2014, the event, which is in it's 21st year, is one of the largest anime and manga conventions outside of Japan.

As in past years, they will host two cosplay competitions; their own competition, as well as the Spanish final of the World Cosplay Summit.

In addition to the focus on manga and anime, the Salón del Manga de Barcelona will also have a Japan-dedicated zone focused on Japanese culture, and an area dedicated to Japanese cuisine. The Japanese cuisine area will have a sake exhibition with special guests Sachie Ogawa, "Miss Sake," winner of a contest organized in Japan to promote the sake worldwide, and Sachiko Goto, director of the Tokyo Sushi Academy.

The video games section will be paying a special tribute to Super Mario Bros. this year.

Guests will include Inio Asano (Oyasumi Punpun, Nijigahara Holograph, Solanin), Io Sakisaka (Ao Haru Ride, Strobe Edge) and Tetsuya Tashiro (Akame ga KILL!), Tadayoshi Yamamuro (Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods) and Norihiro Hayashida (Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F', Dragon Ball Z Kai).

Japanese Star Wars illustrator Tsuneo Sanda will also attend the event. There will be a special exposition dedicated to him and Star Wars.

The event's official poster was designed by Chi's Sweet Home's author Kanata Konami.
