Samurai Deeper Kyo's Kamijyō Ends Tansansuibu Music Manga

posted on by Jabulani Blyden
Music manga launched in Evening magazine in May 2014

This year's third issue of Kodansha's Evening magazine announced on Tuesday that Samurai Deeper Kyo's Akimine Kamijyō's latest manga Tansansuibu will end in the magazine's fourth issue, out on January 26.

Kamijyō launched the manga in Evening in May 2014, and Kodansha published the manga's fourth volume (pictured at right) in August. The manga marked Kamijyō's first appearance in a seinen manga magazine. Kamijyō and Evening noted at the time that this master of fantasy battle manga was trying something new.

The story centers around Shintarō Taki, a boy who just entered high school. While wandering around looking for an afterschool activity to join, he comes across the wind instrument band. The members are all somewhat odd. Plus, there is a secret within the band that no one else knows.

Kamijyō ended the Code:Breaker manga in July 2013. Del Rey Manga published two volumes of the manga in North America in 2012 (before Kodansha USA took over Del Rey's manga titles). An anime adaptation of the manga aired in 2012, and Funimation streamed the anime as it aired in Japan.

Tokyopop published the first part of the Samurai Deeper Kyo manga in North America, and Del Rey published the final volumes. Samurai Deeper Kyo also inspired a television anime that Media Blasters released in North America.
