Sora launches on October 18

Nintendo announced during the final presentation for its Super Smash Bros. Ultimate crossover fighting game on Tuesday that Sora from Disney and Square Enix's Kingdom Hearts series will join the game as the last of six new characters in Fighters Pass Vol. 2. Sora will also be the final new character in the game, and he will launch on October 18.

Sora will feature costume color variations from Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts II, Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance, and Kingdom Hearts III. One of the costumes is from the Timeless River world in Kingdom Hearts II. Sora will have both his English and Japanese voices.

The game will also add the stage Hollow Bastion from Kingdom Hearts. When player stock is low, the stage transitions to an area called "Dive to the Heart," which will feature images of characters from the series. Players with save data from Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory will unlock an additional song "Dearly Beloved ~Swing Version~."

Game director Masahiro Sakurai confirmed on the stream that Sora was the top choice in the Smash Bros. Fighter Ballot from 2015.

The stream also revealed that Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix HD 1.5+2.5 Remix, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and Kingdom Hearts III will get a release on Nintendo Switch via the cloud.

There will also be Mii costumes for Octoling and Judd from Splatoon, and Doom Slayer from the Doom series.
