Ani-One Asia's YouTube channel began streaming the first season of the Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi - The World's Greatest First Love anime based on Shungiku Nakamura's manga on May 16. It began streaming the second season of the anime on May 22.

The first and second seasons premiered in April and October 2011, respectively. Two OVAs shipped with the fifth and sixth compiled volumes of the manga. Funimation released the television anime and OVAs on DVD in March 2017 and describes its story:

First love is a precious thing. The racing of hearts, the fluttering of stomachs - it's a feeling that remains a fond and treasured memory. That is, unless you're Ritsu Onodera. After his first love with a handsome upperclassman ends in heartbreak, Onodera is over the troubles of love. But even without it, his life is still miserable.

When he decides to transfer to Marukawa Publishing as an editor, he winds up working in the shoujo manga department with the intimidating editor-in-chief, Masamune Takano - who happens to be the senpai who broke his heart! Can Onodera balance the hectic life of a manga editor and the enduring advances of Takano? Boy's love is in the air!

The Sekaiichi Hatsukoi: Propose-hen anime film debuted in Japan in February 2020 and shipped on Blu-ray Disc and DVD in June 2020. Ani-One Asia streamed the film in India in August 2020. An earlier film, Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi: Yokozawa Takafumi no Baai, opened in 2014.

The manga debuted in Kadokawa's The Ruby magazine in 2006, and moved to Asuka Ciel in 2009, before moving to Emerald in August 2014.
