Shin-chan Director Masakazu Hashimoto, CG Animator Takako Kanda Lead Seminar in New Delhi on September 15

Takako Kanda will lead The Evolving World of Anime seminar, which will start at 10:50 a.m. IST. Masakazu Hashimoto will participate in a Director Talk Show at 12:00 p.m. IST.

Takako Kanda, Senior CG Animator at GEEK TOYS, Japan, will lead the opening session. Beginning her career as a CG animator, she advanced to roles as CG Director and Producer, contributing to landmark projects such as Initial D and Aikatsu!. With extensive experience across both the creative and production dimensions of CG animation, Ms. Kanda brings a comprehensive perspective on the anime industry. Her session will trace the history and evolution of Japanese anime's creative techniques, offering participants valuable insights into the craft and its ongoing transformation.

The second session will feature a special talk by Masakazu Hashimoto, acclaimed director of Crayon Shin : The Spicy Kasukabe Dancers in India and long-time contributor to the Crayon Shin-chan franchise and other popular anime works. Since its arrival in India in 2006, Crayon Shin-chan has become a cultural touchstone, reflecting anime's growing resonance with Indian audiences. In this session, Mr. Hashimoto will share his experience of directing one of Japan's most beloved franchises and engage with participants on the broader trajectory of the anime industry, its challenges, and its enduring global appeal.

The Japanese Film Festival India (JFF) is hosting several anime film screenings throughout the the "Mela Mela! Anime Japan!!" (MMAJ) event this weekend including the Indian premiere for Eiga Crayon Shin-chan Chō Karei! Shakunetsu no Kasukabe Dancers (Crayon Shin-chan the Movie: Super Magnificent! Scorching Kasukabe Dancers), the latest anime film in the Crayon Shin-chan series. The premiere took place at 5:45 p.m. IST on September 14 and screened the film with a Hindi dub. The event gave away freebies such as "Shin-chan ramen noodles." In the announcement of the film, Hashimoto spoke about the how he and screenwriter Kimiko Ueno travelled to India location-scouting for the film, experiencing the country's spicy curry and scorching heat first hand. The film opened in Japan on August 8. It sold 363,000 tickets and earned 450,283,700 yen (about US$3.07 million) in its first three days, and sold 516,000 tickets to earn 633 million yen (about US$4.33 million) in its first four days, which includes Monday (August 11 was the Mountain Day holiday in Japan). The film has earned a cumulative total of 2,098,309,300 yen (about US$14.23 million) in Japan.
