4K Media Appointed as Master Licensee for Rebecca Bonbon

Adorable French Bulldog from Hello Kitty Creator Blends Fashion Sense with a Little Attitude to Capture the Hearts of Young Females

New York – February 16, 2016 – 4K Media Inc., the New York based brand management and production subsidiary of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. today announced that Crown Creative has selected 4K Media to serve as master licensee for the girls' fashion brand Rebecca Bonbon in the U.S., Canada and Europe. Rebecca Bonbon expands 4K Media's licensing portfolio, opening the door to girl-skewing product categories, which is a perfect complement to the boy-skewing Yu-Gi-Oh! brand.

“Representing the licensing interest of Rebecca Bonbon is the ideal complement to 4K Media's work with the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise,” said Jennifer Coleman, 4K Media's Vice President of Licensing and Marketing. “She is an adorable, Paris-born fashionista French Bulldog, now living in New York City. Every girl wants to live a lifestyle like hers! We are looking forward to launching female focused product categories with high end and boutique retailers who cater to a discerning and fashionable female consumer.”

4K Media is launching a fresh licensing program for Rebecca Bonbon which includes product categories such as apparel, accessories, cosmetics, home décor, plush and pet products all with the intent of targeting young females. The company expects to unveil new Rebecca Bonbon products at select retail outlets by late 2016.

Rebecca Bonbon, the adorable French Bulldog was created by Yūko Shimizu who is the original creator of Hello Kitty. Rebecca Bonbon's charming personality and fashionable world travels make her one of the most inspiring characters Yuko has ever drawn. Launched in 2005, Rebecca Bonbon has quickly grown in popularity around the world and continues to make headlines through her exciting lifestyle and celebrity fans.

Yuko has been partnering with other artists and creatives to create brand associations that strengthen the local appeal of Rebecca Bonbon throughout Asia, including the creation of the character Whoohoo, Rebecca Bonbon's new friend, who is also the pet of Asia's real-life pop diva Jolin Tsai. The relationship has resulted in Whoohoo's image being incorporated into Tsai's concert sets, introducing Rebecca Bonbon to the singer's young female fans through the association, and by being featured in premiums which link Tsai to the Rebecca Bonbon brand.

“Just as Yuko has succeeded in localizing the Rebecca Bonbon brand in Asia, we needed a partner to oversee the international expansion of the brand," said Satoko Sakakibara, Crown Creative's senior manager of overseas marketing. "4K Media has proven its ability to localize brands especially for the US and European marketplace and we're delighted to be collaborating with them on the globalization of Rebecca Bonbon.”
