The First European Woman Reaches the Highest Tip in Japanese Manga Competitions

Elena Vitagliano wins Silent Manga Audition 8 giving hopes to the dreams of all European manga artists to make it in Japan

Tokyo - 21st of December 2017.
The Final results of the Silent Manga Audition, 8th edition, are finally out. For the first time, Gran Prix Award goes to a female European artist. Her name is Elena Vitagliano. She is an Italian artist leaving and working in London, in the field of art and comics. Her manga, “The cruelest rule” (残酷なルール), about fair play in sport as well as in life, has been highly appreciated by the judges of the SMA8 and can be read and liked here.

Silent Manga Audition is an international competition, aiming to discover and support Manga artists from all around the world. By far the largest event of its kind, is organised by Coamix corp of Japan, led by CEO Nobuhiko Horie, ex-chief editor of “Weekly Shonen Jump”. and counts really legendary names in the manga field: TETSUO HARA (“Fist of the North Star", “Ikusa no Ko” etc.), TSUKASA HOJO (“City Hunter”, “Cat's Eye”, “Angel Heart” etc.), RYUJI TSUGIHARA (Author, “Mecha-Doc”, “Restore Garage 251”, etc.).

Elena will start now cooperating with the publishing house Coamix to work on a manga one shot as a test for a longer manga series and no doubts, her manga will be set in Europe.
Another door opens for wanna be European manga artists in Japan!
