I edited out the part where I said instead of a week, we'd vote every 4 days. I should have left that in there. Anyway, a possible schedule maintaining 4 days throughout: First Round: 191 competitors Day 1: First 2 triads from groups A-H or groups A&B (16 picks) Day 5: Second 2 triads or groups C&D Day 9: Third triads or groups E&F Day 13: 4th triads or groups G&H Day 17: 4-day timeout to reset for next round (if needed) Second Round: 96 competitors Day 21: First 2 triads from each group or groups A-D (16 picks) Day 25: 2nd 2 triads or groups E-H Day 29: 4-day timeout to reset for next round (if needed) Third round: 32 competitors Day 33: First pair from each group or groups A&B (8 picks) Day 37: 2nd pair or groups C&D Day 41: 3rd pair or groups E&F Day 45: 4th pair or groups G&H Day 49: 4-day timeout to reset for next round (if needed) (maintaining 16 picks in this group would end up 8 days shorter) Fourth Round: 16 competitors Day 53: All groups at once (8 picks) Day 57: 4-day timeout to reset for next round (if needed) Quaterfinals: Final 8 contestants Day 61: 1st pair Day 65: 2nd pair Day 69: 3rd pair Day 73: 4th pair Semifinals: Final 4 contestants Day 77: 1st pair Day 81: 2nd pair Finals: Final 2 contestants Day 85: Final Closing Ceremony: Day 92: Close, winner announced (theme song, flag raising, crowning, whatever) or, ~12 weeks long, about the same as abunai's 16 picks per round. It can also be shortened up to 16 days, if breaks are not needed by the controller(s) (remember they have to count votes, get new brackets, etc.). Like I said, I prefer doing triads from each group as to whole groups. However, I don't think it will make a whole lot of difference. I also understand it's far easier to do whole groups instead of triads. So, whichever method is chosen is fine by me.
Ah, okay. I just assumed since you're doing all the leg work (at least from what I can see), you'd be running it from here on. I hope I'm reading the bracket right and those day numbers are also right. I changed it half a dozen times... |

So, we're up and running, and I see that the two-groups-at-a-time approach was chosen.
The first reaction is rather funny:
There are three more just like it to come - and that's just round one.... - abunai |

I figured that!
Of course once later rounds come, I bet more people will be more reluctant to vote since there's fewer girls. |

Are there plans for matching up the final 8 contestants at the end? Are they just going to be randomly paired off?

Here's a little update to our discussions on the meaning of moe: an in-depth article that attempts a scholarly analysis of the phenomenon, as well as establishing a typology of moe imagery.
