Hunter x Hunter is more impressive then AoT.
it releases no new chapter or new vol in 2013, it still sold 4 millions. lol top 4 vols by sales are all One piece. AoT topped at vol 9 and 10. Vol 11 didn't do that great. animenewsnetwork.com/news/2013-12-01/top-selling-manga-in-japan-by-volume/2013 |

That's cause AoT 11 has an "unlimited" special edition. For 2013, Shingeki sold 15,475,569 regular editions and 458,232 special editions. I'd say about 350k of those 450k special editions are Volume 11 special editions. Volume 11 special edition is also 2.5x the retail price of the regular edition. Meaning that Shingeki Vol. 11 pulled in more revenue than Vol. 9 and Vol. 10. |

I just gotta say, altho I love both AoT AND OP, it's kinda ridiculous to say "Attack on Titan" kicked everyones asses when the series came in second to One Piece AND the highest placing individual volume came in 5th behind 4 vols of One Piece.
That's like saying "sure your team won the Super Bowl and yeah, your quarterback, running back and wide receiver all had better stats than mine, but my team was closer than any other team, so my team kicked everyone's ass". Why can't people just say "Attack on Titan had an AMAZING 2013" and leave it at that instead of saying "it's BETTER than One Piece based on some complicated metric that I made up because it reflects what I want to be true". |

And yet, despite how well it is doing in Japan, Silver Spoon remains unlicensed in the US. C'mon Viz! I promise I'll buy every single one! Please let me put this series on my shelf next to FMA and Hero Tales!
-sigh- At what point do I give up being patient? |

Wow, Magi selled more than Naruto (then i'm not the only one that loves this manga). I don't mind SnK because is sold all its 11 volumes. I'm glad to see Bleach falling even more.
But i was wondering one thing. HxH is in top10 with just 2 volumes. How much could it sell if it was a regular manga? |

17 1,193,383 Hunter × Hunter 31 18 1,186,245 Hunter × Hunter 32 4,231,475 - HxH overall 2013 sales 2,379,628 - HxH 31 & 32 1,851,847 - HxH 1 to 30 HxH added an average of 61728 copies for volumes 1 to 30. Meaning volumes 1 to 30 sold an average 1102 copies per volume per week in 2013. This isn't really surprising because HxH has an ongoing anime. Most of the top 10 manga for 2013 have anime still airing or which aired in 2012-2013. |

Ok, but you have to admit that it was in a nice position in 2010/2011 for a manga without an anime.
I don't get why people are still arguing about AoT. Blue Exorcist got an anime in 2011 and everyone bough EVERY volumes. It was the second (or the third) manga in the top10 that year. Look where it's now. 19th! It's the same for AoT. There was an anime this year and people bough all 11 volumes. Next year it won't be in top10 anymore. Ok, it may have a great 2013, but it's in the top10 with 11 volumes. Other manga like Magi, Kuroko and Naruto are in top10 and they sold only 4 volumes. If you take the 4 most sold volumes, it is barely in the top5. Last edited by mak123 on Mon Dec 02, 2013 5:32 am; edited 1 time in total |

Did I say otherwise? Besides, Hunter x Hunter already had an anime before 2011. |

you're wrong because the arc that one piece is on is about to be in it's climax and it's gonna be crazy and epic so you know for a fact that the sales are gonna boost up especially when the anime is gonna catch up |

Thanks to the anime, Hunter x Hunter still made it to the top 10. If Togashi publishes regularly I'm sure we can see it in the Top 3.
One Piece and Attack on Titan both did great job, as always. |

No one knows the future, and it's more wise to be cautious about predictions. Also, I'm just following the current trend. One Piece overall sales has been dropping since 2011, and its 2013 per volume sales is less than its 2012 per volume sales. Besides, a drop in readership is more the usual case since people have a lot of things to be entertained by and to spend their money on. I apply a similar logic to Shingeki. Despite that it's the only second series to sell over 10 million copies in a year since 2008, I doubt it can pull off such a feat again in 2014. Its backlog is just too small. Even if it adds 100k per volume in 2014, that would just be about a million additional in sales. For over 10 million again in 2014, all of its volumes would have to average about 8k copies per week in 2014, and I just can't see that happening without an anime. |

I can only imagine what Hunter x Hunter's sales would be if the series actually started going again. It gets over 4 million doing nothing
