Seriously, this is really pathetic of the fans. Don't these fans realize the characters aren't real? Their ink and paper with names. But to threaten because of the possibly of a characterspoiler[not being a virgin] is really stupid.

And while the manga may belong to the customer, burning it is a little extreame. Maybe a little break might be a good for the author, so maybe things cool down first.

On a side note, how old is Negi anyway? Just out of currosity.

1000 years old, she's a goddess.

This is terrible honestly, the chan sites pretty much played the so called 'slut' card because of this ex-boyfriend fiasco.

So, it's pathetic in the Japanese speaking world and in the English speaking world.

This goes to show you that anime and manga are SERIOUS BUSINESS, especially for elevens and Anonymous.

Claiming a character--word of advice: If you were to ever go on the Adult Swim boards, stay away from any thread posted in by /B/elldandys_Husband unless you want to feel the effect of over 9,000 fanboy e-nukes which have been known to destroy even the biggest threads there.

That's School Rumble for it's crap ass ending. Wink

Anyways I guess I can understand their resentment, this sort of thing isn't expected to be seen in this type of series. If it was shoujo, Josei, or Seinen then that's fine but considering this series is a Shonen Comedy, slice of life with a bit of romance makes it surprising that the manga-ka decided to do this. Even I was turn off by what happen in the manga did not expect this it made it even worse by the fact that the main character Jin spoiler[was going to confess he's feelings to Nagi only to end up being completely ignore/forgotten by Nagi who was all in tears and emotional when she remembered her old lover. ugh this is a type of scene you expect to see in a shoujo manga.]

Not sort of crap I wanted to see in this type of series, if I want to read through something like that then I would read shoujo instead.

WTF? Female virginity is but a tiny piece of flesh, how does that apply to a goddess that can inhabit humans or create a new body out of wood? If she can choose to look like a teenager (even tough she is several hundres years old) she can decide her body is that of a virgin and that is all that it counts IMO.

Wow doing that in a shounen manga is asking for trouble. You're right that sounds like a something that came out of a shoujo manga. I can understand people getting turned off by this.

i guess this is what all the weird "Nagi is a slut" threads were about on 4chan. so this basically amounts to people getting pissed, because they added a romance element to a shounen manga? come on people.

In retrospect, given the origin of Nagi's current manifestation one would assume that a prospective lover ought to consider splinters to be a far more pressing concern than virginity.

I dont know how in the world all these so-called fans missed this ONE thing... I went back and re-read the very first few pages of the Kannagi manga... and guess what?

spoiler[It specifically states that Nagi is a MOTHER and had given BIRTH multiple times before in the past. Now I dont know what RETARD out there would think that she was a VIRGIN for this long when the opening pages of the manga state she was NOT!!!]

After a while, you just stop.

I hopped off the bandwagon when the voice actor for Gundam Seed Destiny's Shinn Asuka had been spat on by some retarded Kirathrun fanboy. I don't even see the hardliner otaku-tachi as human beings anymore.

A part of me wishes good health to this poor woman.

But another part of me wants to laugh at her and say that she should reap what she sowed.

Japan has a tendency to use "poor health" for pretty much anything. Anyone remember Ikue Ohtani being pregnant? "Poor physical health". I believe this is also what they claimed for Tsubasa Fukuchi (the mangaka of Ueki) when he was having problems with depression.

Also, here comes the blending of fantasy and reality... People no longer recognize trolling or just plain old meme material when they see it. There are probably a few dozen fans out there who actually cared and the rest were just along for the hilarity. A few popular sensationalist blogs which spread misinformation don't help.

That isn't supposed to be taken literally. This is like Mother Nature giving birth to creatures.

I think this sort of mentality that "X kind of manga/anime has to do X kind of thing and not Y kind of thing ever or there is something wrong with it" promotes the sort of sterilization that has often plagued manga/anime.

I mean, yeah, if you didn't like that particular scene in this particular manga, sure, I can understand that - but saying that works of a certain genre should absolutely never think about doing things outside of previously outlined conventions is not helpful.

Actually Eri Takenashi is she, not he. We really don't know if some nutty Otakus made threat against her. Anyway, we should consider ourselves lucky for not having weird obsession over fictional characters and their creators.

Speaking of fanboys, I knew this fanboy who cried when his favorite voice actress when she got married. He cried because he can't get closer to her in the future. At least he was obsessed with real person, not some 2D character.
Heartless it may seem, I made fun of him for being ridiculous.

If I made a manga with well developed characters and decide to twist the storyline, I wonder hate mails from hard core fans will come...

So this is really about otaku who didn't read all that carefully? This is one of those things that makes me embarrassed about being an anime/manga fan.

The otakus' perfect virgin goddess turns spoiler[ out to be not a virgin]? 'Oh, how horrible! The sheer shock of it all! It's totally RUINED the character!' Oh, give me a break! This has actually made me interested in the series. A shonen female who the main character loves isn't some ultra-sheltered innocent that freaks out over so much as holding hands, much less a kiss? Sounds pretty refreshing to me, and all I can say is, "It's about time!"

Heck, one of the reasons I liked the Chobits manga was because it had three female characters that were anything but ultra-sheltered. They actually acted like normal girls/women when something sexual came up (like Hibiki's porn) i.e. they reacted with amusement and a 'boy will be boys' attitude.

It really is pathetic to hear about reactions like this... And shows just why the word 'otaku' can be an insult.

Which voice actress was he fanboying over?

Hate mail from hardcore fans for twisting the storyline? Talk about drama and lulz.
