If they're getting money then they are obviously doing more than playing the game. They had to have built up a fanbase via their personality and kept the audience engaged enough to want them to continue to watch videos by the LPer. They had to be consistent at creating, editing, and uploading videos in their spare time. You're incredibly ignorant of just how difficult it would be for a brand new LP'er to actually start making money. Now, I'm not big into Let's Plays, but I'll let you know what I am big into, and that's eSports or competitive gaming, particularly dealing with Starcraft 2 and its expansion. In that sphere there have been countless people that have made a good deal of money off of either playing and/or commentating Starcraft 2. In fact, one of them even made Forbes' illustrious 30 under 30 list and players, particularly from Korea can earn 6-figures just from tournament winnings themselves. To think that you had to be personally involved in the creation of a game in order to earn money off said game is incredibly foolish. |
