I'm not too bummed about that since it seems to mean we'll get both parts at the same time. I'd rather own it all at once anyway.

Was there ever any official reason stated on why Future Diary is being sold exclusively on DVD? Moreover, how likely is it that this is another case of Kadokawa Shoten being difficult and that a blu-ray release is forthcoming at a much later date?

I'd like to order the series, but despite being a collector, I tend to be good with the best version, and have little to no interest in double-dipping if I can help it. If there is no hope for Future Diary on blu-ray, I will go ahead and tell TRSI to add it to my pending pre-orders.

Not given but it's highly likely Kadokawa will release a BD-Box early next year. The OVA will come out at the end of July on DVD-only and that's typically one of the signs a BD-Box is forthcoming in Japan (and it'll be the first time the OVA is released on BD).

Expect a BD release around December next year at the earliest IMO.
