Remember, Cookie, just because you have a magic no-capitalization hall-pass doesn't mean everyone does. And frankly I might lose my mind if everyone did. I'm only begrudging you yours out of respect for the work you put into this site. And the fact that your posts are otherwise satisfactory with regards to grammar and mechanics.

Frankly, the hardest thing about reading bad grammar is fumbling through those people's post that don't use punctuation. *Grrr*
[........................] <-- Those are Periods! Use them! They're free dang it! It takes a quarter of a second to punch the button! Now if you have a script to solve that.... Oh, and how 'bout "bout-->about"? |

Is there any way to apply a filter to the censor code so that titles are excluded? |

I think the problem is apparent. The word bout is a legitimate word by itself, be it in a title or not.
So if the word is used correctly, the filter would change it so that the original sentence would not make any sense. "He had a mighty about with his opponent." The only thing to make it more amusing is to give the Canadian pronounciation to top it all off. Add that in and we just turn it into a really bad take on things... like maybe what was meant was "a boot to the head?"

while it would be POSSIBLE to do that, it would require a _significant_ code re-write to do.. like, ripping out the censor code entirely and replacing it with a custom script that first checks against titles. No, I don't think that's a realistic option. :) Here's what we CAN do, however: "u rock" won't trip the "u r" censor. nor would the grammatically questionable "yuyu r stupid". both have the "u r" phrase in them, but in both cases there is stuff preceeding or following the "words" in question. we can use wildcards, but we can't be selective about them; a "*u r" tag would change "yuyu r" to "you are". we can also use single-character replacements, such as "?u r" would replace "yu r" and "su r" but not "yuyu r". theroetically, if we know a certain change WILL occur, we should be able to change it back with another filter.. so if someone in Japan reading this decides to make "Gundam U R" we could add another rule that converts "Gundam you are" back to the proper title. |

The code also caught my "people's" and changed it to people's. I thought it might not get it because of the punctuation.

Most credit goes to Outlaw Star.Net's member, Dark Nadir, for these (We have decided to add in some new word censors on our board to correct spelling). However, didn't, and some, are ones I came up with:
cr8zy = crazy didn't = didn't everyone = everyone sum = some *I agree, after looking at it. Unfortunately, I really can't see them adding sum into the censor since it is a word all its own. I could just see "The sum of 2 and 2 is 4." becoming "The some of 2 and 2 is 4." Just wouldn't work here.

didn't = didn't <-- Will implement this everyone = everyone <-- Will implement this sum = some <-- won't work. i've = I've <-- i don't wanna impliment this. :p I've = I've <-- i'll impliment this, tho I've = I've <-- that should be covered by the above, i think.. l8 = late <-- okay later = later <-- okay watchin = watching <-- how many of us actually pronounce 'ng' in our everyday speech? i know i don't.... anyone = anyone <-- okay tho = though <-- i personally prefer using 'tho' as a blend of both 'though' and 'although'.. as such, i'd prefer leaving it alone. meen = mean <-- okay dat = that <-- that SHOULD be okay, because if we talk about vcds we _should_ be using ".dat files" rather than "dat files". "da" -- "the" <-- this could obscure japanese sentences, if romanized... the anime "da da da" and Gan-chan (AMG TV)'s "desu da" accent. "de" --> "the" <-- ditto. "wagamama fairy mimuro de pon" and "de gozaru" (favored by kenshin and classical japanese) "fav" --> "favorite" <-- hmm... okay. i'll add them later tonight. |
