Nintendo Switch 2 Sells Over 3.5 Million Units Worldwide in 1st 4 Days

By comparison, the Nintendo Switch console sold 2.74 million units worldwide after nearly a month. However, the console was in short supply at launch despite high demand.
The Switch console has sold 152.12 million units as of March 31. This number includes sales for the Nintendo Switch, Lite, and OLED consoles. Switch software sales amount to 1.391 billion units.
Nintendo is forecasting it will sell 15 million Switch 2 consoles in the new fiscal year, which will end on March 31, 2026. The company is predicting it will sell 4.5 million Switch consoles in the next year.
Nintendo released the new Switch 2 console worldwide on June 5.
Pre-orders opened for Switch 2 on April 24, following a delay from the initial April 9 date "to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions." Nintendo had initially unveiled the global April 9 pre-order date, the US$449.99 price, and other details for its Switch 2 launch on April 2 at 9:00 a.m. EDT before the tariff announcements.
Switch 2 features new Joy-Con 2 controllers that attach magnetically to the sides, larger control sticks, bigger SL/SR buttons, mouse controls with the new Joy-Con 2 controllers. The system comes with both the left and right Joy-Con 2 controllers, as well as a new Joy-Con Grip and Joy-Con Straps. The system supports a new Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, which is similar to the original, but it features a C button and GR/GL buttons on the back, as well as an audio jack. The new C button activates GameChat, a features for connecting via voice chat with other players.
The system features a new dock, 4K resolution, HDR, a 7.9-inch 1080p LCD screen on the handheld device, 120 fps support, fan ventilation, and two USB-C ports. There are improved speakers and a built-in mic. Switch 2 features a larger, sturdy, freely adjustable stand compared to the original Switch console. There are also 256 GB of faster storage, compared to the original system's 32 GB. The system supports microSD Express Cards, but not microSD cards.
Nintendo formally unveiled its Switch 2 system on January 16.
