So likely the actual party that's the cause for the dispute here that goes completely unmentioned is Nippon Columbia, Murakawa's recording label since seemingly sometime after production of the original game. They don't have direct jurisdiction here but they have the most investment in the actress' image, anyways, so if it's not a straight up performer/staff conflict that's the most likely reason considering the agency is perfectly willing to throw one of their others at it.
I feel like there's some interesting implications for the toned down fan service in Brave Witches in there as well. |

How curious. I wonder what sort of changes they were asking for.
I kinda get it if it's live action movies. But since this is adapted from a game, I never imagined something like this can arise from a script dispute. |

I'm guessing from the amount of effort Murakawa's agency put into trying to alter the scene that it was probably sexual in some sort. Which would be a bit weird, considering that she already voiced the character in the game and presumably did a version of these scenes in the game, but since the change was to "maintain her image", it sort of makes sense.
This was a interesting tidbit from the producing industry. Lots of negotiation are involved when producing an anime, and sometimes you can't win them all. |

Which is still weird because this visual novel is rated for all age aka no sexual content. If it is like Himawari (another VN written by the same writer and also published by Frontwing (and MangaGamer in English)) then it shouldn't be much more then some dirty jokes on the level of Seitokai Yakuindomo. I'd love to know what scene they are talking about. |

I'm going to laugh when this finally comes out and people scramble to find the offending scene only to be at a loss as to wtf the big deal was.
No biggie though. I'm sure they will find someone who sounds close enough. I personally don't care who the VA's are as long as they do a good job. |

I played a bit of the game and I'm pretty sure at one point the character in question spoiler[attempts to kill (or kills? it's been a long time for me) the MC].
Given how long ago the game was (almost 2 years) and how seiyuus' careers can be so fast moving, I wouldn't be surprised if they (their agents) no longer wanted her to associate to stuff like that. |

Well this makes me curious since it was an all ages game so what could they have added to the anime for her agency to force a change of one of the main characters. I mean recently she does a lot of shoujo shows but a few years ago she was in Pandora in the Crimson Shell and Vividred Operation.

considering who replaced her, it's likely some suggestive/borderline 18+ stuff that Murakawa felt uncomfortable doing in an anime that's going to be watched allover the world. i'm not convinced it was the agency that instigated this

Except she already voiced whatever offending scene it was in the VN. Not abiding to a sequel adaptation of a work without a legitimate reason (aka health or too busy to book) is pretty much suicide for a (non-popular) VA's career, especially when she already agreed to do it originally. Production committees do not take backing out of agreements lightly. If it was indeed Murakawa who made the decision, it was an extremely poor career choice. If she had ethical qualms, she shouldn't have voiced the character in the first place. But it sounds more like her agency is the one who made the decision. |

Probably quite true and more profitable if successful. But there is no question bridges were burned, she or her agency should have thought of this before they signed the dotted line. |

Hey, this is actually a really interesting point. You're right about how a performers image can change significantly in just two years. Now I'm wondering whether she was already with her agency by the time she took the job for voicing the game. |
