Is there someone who can explain the wide range in pricing of the BD/DVD releases?

These days the actual cost of the disc(s), packaging, and shipping has to be less than $5, so what we are really paying for is the IP (intellectual property).

I can't claim to be anywhere close to be an expert, but here's the conclusions I came to:

- The FGO Camelot release is a special edition (as Aniplex releases usually are) that includes an artbook, OST, and "special booklet"
- Happy-Go-Lucky Days is a movie, so the pricing seems standard (it sells for $21 on Sentai's website anyway)
- Harukana Receive is an essentials release, which is just a rerelease at a lower price with different box art as far as I can tell (all other content is the same)
- The One Piece collection is actually a pretty good price for 25 episodes on both BD and DVD
- Rent-a-Girlfriend seems to be the standard price for a series BD (though Sentai's website sells it for $49 instead) (No I don't know why $70 seems to be MSRP)
- Robotech also seems to be standard price for a series (Plus it's older than R-a-G)

Again this is just my extremely uninformed conclusions, I have no clue how the anime BD market actually works

Just my opinion, but the IP rights holders basically negotiate whatever they can get. If a title is perceived as hot/popular, then the IP people demand more. For example, I don't know but I think a Fate/Stay property like Lord El-Melloi's case files got stuck with a 40% higher price than Kaguya-Sama Love is War because the Fate IP owners think all the Fate property's are made out of gold/ deserve a premium price. That Aniplex got these is beside the point. I like both these shows, btw, but I personally like Kaguya a lot more. And have yet to buy either. Crying or Very sad

Another factor is, some stuff still winds up "bundled"; if the outside Japan distributor wants really popular title A, they have to also take other lesser stuff with it and try to sell that stuff for enough to make the deal cover the bundle's cost. Which distorts the pricing that much more. We usually never know when that sort of thing is happening.

Woah! That's a lot of manga coming out this week! Every time I go to Barnes & Noble it seems they fill another bookcase with manga. It's literally taking over the middle section of the store close to where I work and I don't see how they can fit them all without busting out another section. Heck, I'm glad to see it, especially after the manga bubble burst around 10 years ago, but I can't help but wonder...
