I don't know about the specifics, but isn't this the sort of thing that should be between him, his wife, and if aware, the woman he had the affair with? Despite how distasteful we find it, I don't know if it should affect employment unless I'm missing something.

Twas expected. But don't worry. He'll still be there as Cloud when a CCFF7R (maybe a Rebirth trailer as well if its ready in time) trailer plays at the event and if a playable demo is available with Cloud in it.

And before anyone says CCFF7R releases on the 13th, it is common for a game that just released, especially a few days before, to still get marketed.

He's a celebrity, and this has caused public perception of him to tank. People are either drawn to or pushed away from events or shows that feature him based on their perception of him, which has a direct effect on the bank accounts of studios that hire him. Poor public perception makes him less profitable and possibly even a liability.

Whether it should effect his employment or not is a hypothetical argument, because it does whether anybody thinks it should or not.

If i remember correctly.

The Previous Articles had said that he not only had the affair for 10 years but he kept it a secret to the both woman with the other woman he was having the affair, he manipulated her with the promise that he would marry her too. Which is not only unethical but is an extreme form on manipulation and harmful to the other party.

The Woman in question suffered severe mental distress afterword cause of all the publicity and humiliation. He wasted 10 years of her life and the possibility of a happy relationship which will lead to a series of possible lawsuits afterword and no company wants to associate someone with that much of unethical standard.

That is why this has been taken a little more extreme than most other stories in involving martial affairs.

He lost a pretty big narration gig, though that’s not anime.

I don't want him, nor anyone else to lose their job, since it's his personal life.

That said, even if it really isn't my right to concern myself with other people's lives, and usually, I don't, I can't help but think what he did to that other woman was just way too freaking cruel, and inhuman.

Affairs happen, but what kind of a person you have to be, to actually make your lover think you actually love them, will marry them, and then they end up finding out you are already married, and thus wasted a decade of their life?

the problem in this case is he dragged the personal life and professional career into each other as the victim in this case works for him on his radio show and her career has been ended as well by this.

This doesn't really surprise me, though it also doesn't seem like he's going to get hit as badly as Tatsuhisa Suzuki was.

I don't think it will be as bad as Suzuki as well, but with his profile, he can afford to lose a few roles here and there anyway.

The thing is Takahiro Sakurai is a public figure whose work also depends on his image because of multiple factors (i.e. his radio show, how voice actors are marketed nowadays, etc., scandal culture). No company wants their work to be overshadowed by controversy and negative opinions like Sakurai has garnered, and if people don't feel comfortable with seeing him in a work, then it affects profits.

I guarantee you it'll happen sooner or later. I doubt it'll happen for most of his reprisals depending on how far along in production those efforts are, but I do think he'll stop getting as many new roles going forward.

It is news being reported by news sources and therefore discussion is going to happen. That's just how news sites with forums work?

People beginning sentences with "Despite how distasteful we find it..." aren't actually part of that "We", and don't find it distasteful, but are trying to put a lid on those that are. "Hey pals, I agree that he did a super gross thing, but maybe we shouldn't talk about it? We'll let the courts decide!" Rolling Eyes

Despite me being against them banning him. I believe it was a good idea. Imagine someone asking him about the affair.

Or even worse, what if he responds like, "I"m just trying to help repopulate our dying country. Our birthrates are plummeting. Please forgive me, but I thought this was the best course of action."
