Anime is sure getting... exposure on Conan O'Brien, albeit in a somewhat "point-and-laugh-at-the-anime-nerd" kind of way...

But offing new episodes of Detective Conan for Cowboy Bebop, which has been run to death, is totally ridiculous. Yes, I know it's comedy. But it's stupid comedy.

Wow. After the blank stares the dude got from his Macross rant, I thought he'd be barred from ever speaking of anime again.

Yeah, well, he gets blank stares after everything he says. He's really... really bad. I wonder why they chose him?

As for anime on Conan getting "point and laugh" exposure, that's how Conan himself gets attention, so you could think of it as being very flattering in a way!

I totaly agree... He should have done his research before ranting about that... But, he did get a free set of Robotech out of the deal, so yay to him. (The macross rant can be seen at robotech.com. The artical should still be on the main page.) Other then that... Cowboy bebop has been on CTN for years now... They could run some other titles to death like Outlaw Star, or stick with Conan... I like Detective Conan anyways. Very Happy

I know... Pierre Bernard should be the patron saint of the F'in Otaku website.

You gotta admit it was hilarious for the guy to explain that the an island escapes in a bubble and they have to fight their way back in space.. That made me laugh quite a bit even though i'm a die hard Macross fan from 1984.

With how much it's been on lately, I'm starting to wonder if Conan himself might be an anime fan. It's just odd.

In my opinion, anything that mentions anime in a mainstream show is good for the advancement of anime fandom, regardless of the reaction. Not to mention that Adult Swim just got some free advertising.

It´s nice to see some shows finally acknowledging the existance of anime. I love Late Night with Conan O´ Brian, so this just makes things better! Too bad I´m in Spain right now,so I won´t be able to see for about two weeks... Sad

On a side note, it would seem that the people behind the scenes at Conan are anime fans. Does anyone recall the eyecatch on the show that super-imposed Conan´s head on a Gundam model? It should be in the archives of ANN.

I'm just wondering why Pierre whats-his-name didn't point to Conan that Case Closed is the american name of Detective Conan?

Pierre probably made that. He's the show's graphic designer.

I couldn't agree more.

Anything that helps the ever-growing anime market of america is good for progress of how anime is handled here.

I'm kinda angry at myself for skipping Conan tonight, now. I'll check it out later on though (Reruns rock).

Okay, MAJOR NITPICK.

Bubblegum Crisis is about 4 Females in Hardsuits, not Police Officers in power armor (Granted, AD Police uses Power Armor called K-Suits, but still....). Thats Patlabor.

If he was really into Bubblegum Crisis, he wouldn't have made that mistake.

Adult Swim is Conan's only real threat in ratings. AS is #1 in all tiem slots except for Inuyasha and Case Closed. Those series are #2 to Conan. So, hearing AS on Late Night isn't supprising.
