NTT considering MLB promotion through U.S. subsidiary, Golden Eagles will use system beginning 2017

NTT Data and the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles baseball team announced on Monday that it has developed a virtual reality training system for baseball players. The system allows both pitchers and batters to mimic practical real-life situations in a simulated environment. NTT is considering promoting the system to North America's Major League Baseball through a United States subsidiary.

NTT claims the system can accurately recreate even small differences in the ballistic behavior and trajectory of a baseball based on footage by the Golden Eagles. Batters can use the data before a match to see the pitch from their perspective. NTT claims it is the first virtual reality training system for professional baseball players. The Golden Eagles are planning to implement the system as part of regular training beginning in 2017.

Virtual reality programs are offering a variety of experiences ear cleaning andexploring the worlds of Ghibli to eating cake with Haruka Tomatsu.
