JoJo's Characters Comment on Scale Users' Physical Attributes

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Would stepping on a scale be less intimidating if the characters from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure talked to you? The health meter company Tanita makes all kinds of measurement devices, whether its sleep patterns, urine content, or counting calories. Its newest device measures body composition; i.e. the user's fat and muscle ratios, BMI, bone mass, and metabolic rate. What makes this scale special is certain measurements will activate voice recordings from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure characters.

The JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Inner Scan Voice BC-202-DU features Jōsuke Higashikata (Yūki Ono), Kōichi Hirose (Yūki Kaji), and Okuyasu Nijimura (Wataru Takagi). Phrases include "Can't be helped... hold my hand." (Jōsuke says when this when the user's muscle mass is low), "The scale isn't broken down. It's the fault of some enemy's Stand!" (Kōichi says when the body fat percentage is measured as "mild obesity"), and "Hey, be more self-confident!" (Okuyasu says when body fat percentage is measured as "standard +"). Jōsuke also makes a clanging noise when a button is pressed for a long time, Kōichi informs users when measurements are being taken, and Okuyasu claims it's The Hand when users erase personal data.

Pre-orders opened on Tuesday and will be accepted until September 30. The scale costs 19,440 yen (US$176).

The "JoJo Fest in S City Morioh Town will host an exhibition celebrating the series' 30th anniversary starting August 12 and will run until September 10. The exhibition is not a recreation of the previous one held in 2012, but an all new event.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure has a theme park attraction at Universal Studios Japan that opened on June 30 and a real escape game at Tokyo Dome City Attractions running until September 24.

The live-action film, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond wa Kudakenai Dai-Ichi-Shō (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable Chapter I), is in theaters in Japan.
