McDonald's Japan Announces Anime Ad Starring Atsuko Maeda, Ayana Taketatsu, Aimi

Ad for gratin croquette burger will debut on TV on December 3

McDonald's Japan announced at a press conference on Thursday that it will be releasing an animated ad to promote its gratin croquette burger. The ad will debut on TV on December 3. The ad will star actress Atsuko Maeda and voice actresses Ayana Taketatsu (Oreimo, K-ON!) and Aimi (BanG Dream!).

McDonald's posted a video teasing the song the three actresses will sing for the commercial.

On Wednesday, McDonald's posted a key animation frame, hinting that the upcoming ad would take the form of an animation.

The ad will tell the story of three girls in a high school lacrosse club who make a ritual out of eating the gratin croquette burger in winter. At the press conference, Maeda, Taketatsu, and Aimi spoke of how it has been several years since they last performed together in front of an audience. They also tried out the burger and performed the song for the press.

Studio Colorido (Taifū no Noruda, Penguin Highway) previously produced a "Mirai no Watashi" (The Future Me) campaign anime short for McDonald's restaurants.
