posted on by Christopher Macdonald
Three-week Festival in August to Show Anime and Japanese Films among other Asian Films and Genre Cinema

The press conference announcing the 2005 Fantasia film festival was held today in Montreal, Quebec.

In it's 9th year, the festival has, over the years, presented the world premieres of anime such as Jin-Roh, Perfect Blue, Metropolis and Millennium Actress.

At this year's press conference very little attention was paid to the festival's anime track. No anime titles were mentioned at the press conference and during the trailers session the only anime featured was Masaaki Yuasa's Mindgame.

Nonetheless, a look at their PR material, and website shows numerous other anime and anime related movies. In fact over a third of the movies are from Japan this year, more than from any other country.
