GeGeGe no Nyōbō (Spooky Wife), the live-action television drama adaptation of an autobiographical essay book by GeGeGe no Kitarō author Shigeru Mizuki's wife Nunoe Mura, ran on May 7 at 8:00 a.m. and earned a 17.2 rating. The live-action television adaptation based on Fujiko Fujio A's Kaibutsu-kun manga series aired on May 8 at 9:00 p.m. with a 13.1 rating. The live-action version of Miki Yoshikawa's Yankee-kun to Megane-chan school comedy manga aired on May 7 at 10:00 p.m. and garnered a 12.5 rating. Major: Yūjō no Winning Shot, the first anime film based on Takuya Mitsuda's Major baseball manga, aired on May 4 at 9:00 a.m. with a 3.1 rating.
