News Madoka Magica Tops Weekly BD Chart for 2nd Straight Time
posted on 2011-05-31 15:55 EDT by Egan Loo
The second limited-edition volume of the Puella Magi Madoka Magica television anime sold 54,000 units (rounded to the nearest thousand) in its first week to debut at #1 on Oricon's Blu-ray Disc chart for the May 23-29 week. It is the second Madoka Magica volume in a row to top the chart.
The second Madoka Magica volume also outsold the previous volume, which moved 53,000 copies in its first week despite a recall on its second official day of sales. Both volumes outsold the previous record-holder, the sixth and final Blu-ray volume of Bakemonogatari (51,000 units). Not incidentally, Akiyuki Shinbo directed both projects.
