Manga Artist Naoki Serizawa to Work on Game, Anime Character Design Next Year

posted on by Karen Ressler

Manga creator Naoki Serizawa revealed on Twitter on Monday that he will design characters for a game and anime next year. He did not share details on either the game or anime.

In addition, Serizawa revealed that he is aiming to start a new shonen manga series and a one-shot manga this year.

Serizawa will launch a new manga titled Sports Doctor "MAMA" (Mama wa Sports Doctor) in Nihon Bungeisha's Weekly Manga Goraku on Friday. He is also serializing Psycho Bank in Kodansha's Monthly Young Magazine.

Serizawa launched the Biohazard: heavenly island manga in Weekly Shōnen Champion in January 2015, and he ended the series on February 2. Serizawa also recently ended the Billion Dogs manga with author Muneyuki Kaneshiro. The fourth and final volume shipped in Japan on February 9. DeNA's Manga Box app published the manga in both Japanese and English.

Serizawa's earlier Biohazard: Marhawa Desire manga launched with a prologue chapter in the inaugural issue of CAPCOM's CapBom! magazine in 2011, and the series ended in 2013. Viz Media published the five-volume manga in North America under the title Resident Evil: The Marhawa Desire. Serizawa's Saru Lock manga inspired a live-action television series in 2009.
