Fantasy series of humans, mythical beasts takes place in past London

The July issue of Kadokawa's Monthly Shonen Ace magazine revealed on Saturday that author Makoto Sanda (Rental Magica) and illustrator Aco Arisaka (character designer for KADO - The Right Answer) are launching a new fantasy manga in the magazine's August issue on June 26 titled Bestia. Kashiwa Miyako is in charge of storyboard composition.

Sanda posted an illustration from the manga on Twitter on Saturday.

Sanda stated the manga takes place in the past in London, and is a "boy meets girl" story about humans and mythical beasts. Sanda also posted two more of Arisaka's character designs, the first one below featuring the manga's heroine Edgar.

Sanda's Rental Magica light novel series inspired a five-volume manga by Akiho Narimiya that debuted in 2006. The novels also inspired a 24-episode television anime series that aired in 2007-2008. Right Stuf released the anime on DVD.

Arisaka also illustrated the Yume Nikki - I Am Not in Your Dream light novel, which J-Novel Club has published digitally.
