Film opens in Japan on March 8

Tsuburaya Productions began streaming a web-exclusive trailer for Gekijōban Ultraman R/B Select! Kizuna no Crystal (Ultraman R/B The Movie Select! The Crystal of Bonds), the film based on the newest Ultraman series Ultraman R/B, on Thursday. The video previews the film's theme song "Hikari no Kizuna" by Takeshi Tsuruno (Ultraman Dyna) and DAIGO (Ultraman Saga). Tsuruno wrote the lyrics, DAIGO composed the piece, and Sho of the rock band MY FIRST STORY arranged the song.

The film will open in Japan on March 8. Shochiku Media Division is distributing the film. In the film's story, monsters and a mysterious Ultraman named Ultraman Tregia appear in front of the Minato family. The Minato family's passionate feelings will give birth to a new "Ultraman G/R/B." Ultraman Geed protagonist Riku Asakura (played by Tatsuomi Hamada) will also appear in the film.

The 25-episode Ultraman R/B series premiered on TV Tokyo and its affiliates on July 7.

For the first time in the Ultraman franchise's history, the show centers on two protagonists who are brothers. Yūya Hirata plays older brother Katsumi Minato, who can transform into Ultraman Rosso. Ryōsuke Koike plays younger brother Isami Minato, who can transform into Ultraman Blu.

Both brothers live with their family, which includes a younger sister who attends an all-girls school, their father who runs a boutique shop, and their mother who researches the show's transformation items, the R/B Gyro and R/B Crystal. One day, the two brothers find the R/B Gyro and R/B Crystal. The R/B Gyro transforms Katsumi into Ultraman Rosso, which gives him control over the fire element, while R/B Crystal transforms Isami into Ultraman Blu, which gives him control over the water element. Although both brothers sometimes butt heads, they fight monsters together.

The previous Ultraman series, Ultraman Geed, premiered on TV Tokyo and its affiliates in July 2017. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired. The Gekijōban Ultraman Geed - Tsunagu ze! Negai!! (Ultraman Geed the Movie - Connect the Wishes!!) film opened in theaters in Japan on March 10.
