No Guns Life Released Monday

posted on by Andrew Osmond

On Monday February 8, Manga Entertainment will release the first season of No Guns Life on Blu-ray. Viz Media licensed the manga and will begin releasing it this fall. The company describes the story:

With no memory of his previous life—or who replaced his head with a giant gun—Juzo Inui now scratches out a living in the dark streets of the city as a Resolver.

Naoyuki Itou (Overlord all three seasons, Kanon, Kimi no Koe o Todoketai) directed the anime at Madhouse (Boogiepop and Others, Overlord). Yukie Sugawara (Overlord all three seasons, Kino's Journey - the Beautiful World-, Hina Logic - from Luck & Logic) oversaw the series scripts and Masanori Shino (Black Lagoon, Digimon Adventure tri. films, Gungrave) designed the characters.

Manga will also release the film Bungo Stray Dogs: Dead Apple on Blu-ray and DVD. Crunchyroll described the story:

Six years has passed since the bloodbath known as the Dragon's Head Rush conflict. Over 500 people with supernatural powers have been found dead -- presumably by suicide. The Armed Detective Agency is tasked with the mission to capture Shibusawa Tatsuhiko, the mysterious special ability user thought to be involved. But when Osamu Dazai disappears, the ”Demon” Fyodor begins showing his shadow.

Those with supernatural powers, known as Special ability users, are threatened by an onslaught of unprecedentedly powerful enemies, and the city of Yokohama begins falling into a terrifying nightmare. Atsushi and Kyouka infiltrate Shibusawa's fortress, where they are met by Akutagawa, who delivers an unthinkable truth.

The film opened in Japan in March 2018. Takuya Igarashi returned from the television anime to direct the film at BONES. Yoji Enokido returned to write the film, in collaboration with original manga writer Kafka Asagiri. Nobuhiro Arai returned as character designer and chief animation director, Fumihiro Katagai was the mechanical designer, and Taku Iwasaki returned to compose the music.

Manga will also release the third season of Bungo Stray Dogs on Blu-ray and DVD.

MVM will release the series The Demon Girl Next Door on Blu-ray. Sentai Filmworks describes the story:

Yuko Yoshida is just an ordinary schoolgirl — until one day her dormant, devilish powers are unleashed by the demon Lilith! Yuko transforms into Shadow Mistress Yuko, a supernatural powerhouse with horns and a devil tail. Now she must defeat another mystical being named Momo Chiyoda, the shrine maiden of the Light Clan… who just so happens to go to Yuko's school! But being a demonic magical girl isn't as easy as it looks, and Yuko has a whole lot to learn before she's ready to fulfill her destiny and take on the Clan of Light.

Hiroaki Sakurai (Cromartie High School, Maid Sama!, The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.) is directed the anime at J.C. Staff. Keiichirō Ōchi (La Corda d'Oro Blue Sky, Hinamatsuri, The Quintessential Quintuplets) supervised the series' scripts. Mai Otsuka (Shakugan no Shana, Non Non Biyori, This Art Club Has a Problem!) designed the characters.

Anime Limited will release a Collectors Blu-ray of the first TV season of K, including a 32-page booklet. The anime premiered in October 2012 with Shingo Suzuki (Mardock Scramble) as the director and character designer. Viz described the story:

"K is set in a world where history has taken a slightly different course from the one we're familiar with and follows the story of a young boy whose life is caught in a supernatural war between seven kings. Yashiro Isana, also known as Shiro, is wanted for a crime he has no recollection of committing. He finds himself being hunted by the groups HOMRA, led by Mikoto Suoh, “The Red King,” and SCEPTER 4, led by Reisi Munakata, “The Blue King.” While on the run, another young man named Kuroh Yatogami helps him. Will this fated encounter change Shiro's life forever?"

Anime Limited will also a release a Blu-ray of the complete series of Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online.
