RADWIMPS Goes on Tour in Asia in July

Band holds concerts in S. Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia

The official website for rock band RADWIMPS revealed last Friday that the band will have an Asian tour that will see the band traveling to Seoul, Taipei, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, and Jakarta in July. Event planning company PK Entertainment announced on Monday that tickets for the Jakarta show are sold out.

The band will hold concerts at the YES24 Livehall in Seoul, South Korea on July 21; at Zepp New Taipei in Taipei, Taiwan on July 23; at Zepp Kuala Lumpur in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on July 25; at Union Hall in Bangkok, Thailand on July 27; and at Basket Hall Senyan GBK in Jakarta, Indonesia on July 30.

The members of RADWIMPS include vocalist and guitarist Yōjirō Noda, guitarist Akira Kuwahara, bassist Yūsuke Takeda, and drummer Satoshi Yamaguchi. The band formed in 2001, although three of the original members left the band in 2004 (to be replaced by Takeda and Yamaguchi). The band released their first single "Moshi mo" independently in 2003 during their third year of high school, and also released their first self-titled album independently during the same year. The band made their major professional debut with their fourth single "Nijūgoko-me no Senshokutai" in 2005 under Toshiba EMI.

RADWIMPS are notable for providing the complete soundtrack to Makoto Shinkai's your name. film, which opened in Japan in 2016 to major box office success. The band similarly composed the soundtracks for Shinkai's later films Weathering With You and Suzume, the latter of which opened in Japan just last November, and in most Asian territories last month.
