Kaihō and Sadoru Chiba launched the original School-Live! manga in Manga Time Kirara Forward in 2012, and ended the series in November 2019. The manga's 12th and final compiled volume shipped in January 2020. Kaihō and Chiba launched Gakkō Gurashi! ~Otayori~, a sequel to the manga, in Manga Time Kirara Forward in June 2020, and ended it in August 2021.
Kaihō, along with writer Makoto Fukami and artist Etorouji Shiono, launched the Deep Insanity: Nirvana manga in Square Enix's Big Gangan magazine in January 2020, and ended it in March 2023. The manga is based on Square Enix's larger Deep Insanity franchise.
Kaihō is also known for writing scripts for anime, and wrote the anime adaptation of his School-Live! manga. He was also the head writer on both Danganronpa 3 anime (as well as their "Hope Arc" special), was co-writer alongside Makoto Fukami on the anime adaptation of Fukami's Magical Girl Spec-Ops Asuka manga, and was also co-writer on the Akudama Drive original anime alongside its director Tomohisa Taguchi. Most recently, Kaihō wrote the Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Rulers anime.
