2025 Webtoon Trend Conference to Spotlight Globalization of Webtoons

The “2025 Webtoon Trend Conference,” an event examining the current state and future of the webtoon industry, will be held on September 24 at 2:00 p.m. KST at the Webtoon Convergence Center in Bucheon.
The Korea Manhwa Contents Agency (KOMACON) and Bucheon City will host the conference, with support from Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization. This year's theme, “Webtoons Go Global,” will highlight the global expansion of K-webtoons and their growing role in transmedia adaptations.
Speakers include Jung-sook Jang, CEO of Redice Studio; Faris Alrushoud, founder of Manga Arabia; and Ana Paula Ribeiro, CEO of Infinitoon, who will present on industry trends in Korea, the Middle East, and South America, respectively. Popular YouTuber and critic “Rainer” will deliver the keynote address on webtoon IP competitiveness and moderate subsequent panel discussions.
The program will also address the role of global OTT platforms and international distribution networks in shaping the future of webtoons, as well as the rising success of film and drama adaptations based on webtoon IP.
On September 25, a follow-up conference titled “Imagination Drawn by AI: When AI Meets Comics and Webtoons” will explore the integration of artificial intelligence with webtoon content. Participants can join through pre-registration or on-site registration, with prizes offered to some advance registrants via OnOffMix.
KOMACON, which operates the world's largest manhwa and webtoon cluster in Bucheon, has supported the international growth of hit titles such as Hellbound and Sweet Home. The agency continues to play a key role in broadening the creative applications and global reach of webtoons.
