Super Mario Galaxy 1/2 Games Get Collection for Switch With Enhanced Versions

New versions feature enhanced resolution, improved UI, assist mode, more Storybook pages


Nintendo announced during the Nintendo Direct stream on Friday Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2, a collection for Nintendo Switch with enhanced versions of both Nintendo Wii games. The collection will launch on October 2. The company streamed a trailer:

The collection features enhanced resolution, improved user interface (UI), an Assist Mode for for additional Health and fall recovery, and new pages for Rosalina's Storybook.

The company also unveiled new amiibo for Mario and Rosalina, as well as a physical version of Rosalina's Storybook, although it does not include the new pages from the enhanced games. The amiibo ship on April 2, 2026.

Both Super Mario Galaxy games are inspiring The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, the sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie. The film will open in April 2026. It commemorates the 40th anniversary of the Super Mario Bros. franchise.

The original Super Mario Galaxy game debuted on Wii in November 2007. The sequel Super Mario Galaxy 2 launched for Wii in May 2010.

The Super Mario 3D All-Stars game collection launched in September 2020, and it included the games Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy. The games featured higher resolution than their original versions. Super Mario Galaxy had a widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio, and it was compatible with a control scheme of two Joy-Con controllers. The collection did not include Super Mario Galaxy. It was only available until the end of March 2021, as it was a commemorative game for the Super Mario Bros. franchise's 35th anniversary.
