The production company MMDGP announced Anira to Kokora (Anira and Kokora), a short television anime featuring anthropomorphized sea otters,  on Wednesday. The one-minute anime shorts will premiere on the Kansai TV channel on October 2 at 27:15 JST (effectively, October 3 at 3:15 a.m. JST). The anime will star Shūta Morishima as Anira (left in image below) and Shugo Nakamura as Kokora.

The anime centers on sea otter brothers Anira and Kokora, who live at a certain aquarium. Anira is the older brother who is cool, but also has a naive side. The younger brother Kokora is a passionate otter who adores his older brother.

The short anime aims to "engrave the adorable image of sea otters in people's hearts." In Japan, sea otters were once beloved in aquariums, but the number of sea otters that are kept in captivity has drastically decreased, and opportunities to interact with sea otters have almost completely disappeared.

MMDGP is credited for the anime's planning. Manga-creating Vtuber Imai Nosharu is in charge of characters and comics, while Suzuna Takamura is writing the scripts. Hiroshi Namiki is directing the anime at MMDGP's Kachidoki Studio. Tatooine Sound is handling the sound production, Yū Saitō is directing the sound, and Yūichirō Nakanishi is in charge of background music and sound effects.

Anira (as voiced by Shūta Morishima) and Kokora (as voiced by Shugo Nakamura) will perform the anime's theme song "Good Rakko" (literally "Good Otter," but also a pun on "Good Luck").
