MyAnimeList to Hold English Web Novel Contest 'MAL x Honeyfeed Writing Contest (2021)'
TOKYO - June 25th, 2021 MyAnimeList has announced that it will hold an English web novel writing contest titled “I Was Browsing MAL as Usual Then I Realized My Web Novel Could Become Manga” or simply “MAL x Honeyfeed Writing Contest (2021).” A total prize pool of US$10,000 will be up for grabs. The contest will start on July 6, 2021, and the winning entry will be announced in December 2021.
The contest will be held in collaboration with Honeyfeed, an English web novel community operated by qdopp, Inc. It will also be unusual in that instead of submitting a completed work, contestants are encouraged to post one chapter at a time during the entry period and interact with readers in the comments section of Honeyfeed. Once the entry period is over, the winners will be determined in a tournament format by user voting. Winning entries will also be reviewed by Kodansha Ltd. for possible publication and/or comicalization.
This contest will also contribute to spreading Japan's anime culture even further and deeper than ever before. We believe there is a need to create an ecosystem where overseas anime fans can not only watch finished products but also contribute to the anime creation process.
