Drifters TV Anime Reveals 4 New Cast Members

Yutaka Nakano, Tomokazu Sugita, Kenji Fukuda, Kōji Yusa join cast in anime premiering on Friday


The official website for the television anime based on Kouta Hirano's Drifters manga announced four more cast members on Friday. The new cast members are:

The 12-episode anime will premiere in Japan on Friday at 11:00 p.m. on Tokyo MX and online on AbemaTV.

From the creator and team behind Hellsing comes a thrilling story where history and fantasy collide. Shimazu Toyohisa, a famous samurai who fought in the historical Battle of Sekigahara, is transported to another world when only moments from death. From that moment on, he becomes part of a group known as “Drifters” and is forced to battle against other legendary warriors in an ultimate death game.

Crunchyroll previously streamed an English-subtitled trailer for the series.

The anime celebrates the 70th anniversary of Shōnengahōsha, the publisher of the original manga. Kenichi Suzuki (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders series director) is directing the anime. Hideyuki Kurata (The World God Only Knows, Tokyo Ravens, Maria the Virgin Witch) is handling the series composition and writing the scripts. Yousuke Kuroda (Hellsing Ultimate, Gungrave) is also writing the scripts along with Kurata. Ryōji Nakamori (Hellsing Ultimate) is designing the characters and also serving as chief animation director.
