Personally, I cannot stand death metal. It's one genre I don't enjoy much. |
Hmm, I heard in an Anime music forum that this song was a Metal and Rap mix, and most of them are music specialist and agreed on the genre. It is just a person's taste on music, so we have no right to tell someone what to like or to hate. Particularly, to me, most music, in the mainstream, sounds all the same, no matter what genre. I think I will just stick to my classical music.

As much as I liked the first opening, the second kicks its ass. Maximum The Hormone is the best japanese band there is. The opening Whats Up People is awesome. And yes its hey hey human sucker, ah human human fucker, etc. The ending song is even better, Zetsubou Billy, however they don't play the part about Kira which I find kinda odd.

Personally, Thrash/Death Metal are my favorite types of music. On the other hand, I don't think this opening fits. I can't even find a show that would fit it. I was going to say Metalocalypse, but that show is focused around Dethkolk. If I were to choose a band that should do the opening, the only band I can think of off the top of my head is Flow. They've done some good songs that fit the opening credits to shows, such as Naruto and Eureka Seven.

Listen to the whole thing of it, and especially the ending theme, it works.

You're kidding me right? As much as I love Flow their style is too fluffy for DeathNote.

I love the second opening for death note, the song is great. I'm just not fond of the randoming screaming at the end, but it is forgivable.
It isn't really metal BTW. It is essentially polished hardcore.

Haha you guys make me laugh. The second song was appropriate for the second part of Deathnote. It was just as crap as the entire second part of the anime. The ending song and op were both garbage. Even though the first 26 eps were extraordinary, the second half sucked, or, if i remember correctly, didn't have the same potency and feeling. Yea, again, the music represents the anime pretty much. That goes with most other animes.

I agree that after L died the series went downhill BIG TIME. But it was still enjoyable. If you want to see something really bad read the manga that takes place after the anime.

I didn't really like the 2nd OP at first, but it grew on me over time in ways that the 2nd half of the anime did not.
I also have to say I always thought it was the f-word and so was a bit surprised to discover that CN actually played the second opening. The fansub I followed at the end certainly translated it that way, but of course translating songs is an imperfect science and to have them right you usually need an official lyrics release.

They are a real band called Maximum the Hormone and it does say human fucker. Trust me, I'm a huge fan of theirs and listen to all of their songs.

Did you guys ever figure out what they were saying at the end?
Mentioning DethKlok, after watching that show, I couldn't take metal music seriously. That show is just too hilarious to be taken seriously. Yes, I do watch the other shows on Adult Swim (They are not too bad, except that Tim and Eric Show. That show just sucks.)

I personally hate the second Death Note opening. It's kind of too "Emo" for me. It's a dark song, that goes along with a dark series, but somehow I just can't bring myself to adore it as some people do.
I enjoyed the first opening far more than I do this current one.

No it doesn't, you know why? Three words: Kitty Cat Man.

Doesn't sound even remotely like that to me, why do find it emo?

Well, I like what I like, but I don't like that show. That show just sucks to me.
As for the song, it doesn't sound "emo." In a sense, it almost sounds like a metal/rap fusion, but that is just me. The only thing the song is missing is a sweeping solo.

First, I think we all know they're real. Second, look at pg 1, the f-word appears only towards the end.

It's hardly emo; just because it's dark does not automatically make it emo, and neither does screaming.
