I'm not going to lather on praise for a dub I haven't even heard. So I made an observation that I believed to be true. I was not being negative and have not backpedaled on anything.

Laughing Not being negative? "Typical casting is typical." Your post - as usual - was passively-aggressively negative. But that's not really here nor there. What attracted my attention was your disingenuous cheez-ball attempt to act faux-innocent when someone inevitably responded to your negativity. Nothing wrong with being negative, just be a man about it. Oh and how about updating the Post-o-matic software that spits out your stuff to include memes created after 2003? Thanks in advance.

Do you contend that the casting is not typical?
So far all you've been complaining about is that I was the one who made the statement.

Finally. And Chris Sabat as Garderbelt is just... PERFECT.

And I'm trying to imagine Luci Christian as Panty, but it just doesn't fit. And it's a shame for I do love her haha.

On the whole dubs debate, I'd just like to say....

No one.... NO ONE..... EVER complains about Steve Blum being in everything. Whether it's Western OR anime.

Just sayin'.

Seriously? I've seen a lot of people complain, actually. Just because you like him doesn't mean plenty of other people don't.

Perhaps that, but also Steve Blum isn't really in everything like he used to be anymore. He does more work in cartoons and video games than actual anime these days. Can't remember the last recent dub I've seen where he's voice anyone.

Probably has to do with when they changed one of their forum names to Daten City when the anime was airing.

This is going to be epic! Still going to pass on picking it up though and will most likely rewatch the series on their streams. My only nitpicks for the cast are Sabat and Leigh, unless they toned their voices down to an unspeakable low, they're not going to fit the characters well.

They've changed that forum name a lot of times. It's not an indicator of what shows [as] plan to acquire.

Laughing Wow, you are really being dense, aren't you? It's seems pretty obvious what my point is, not sure how to explain it any clearer. Okay, let's try this again, shall we? Your initial post clearly passive-aggressively was negative about the casting in particular and Funi in general. Sure, you didn't straightforwardly say this 'coz I guess that's not your pale, hairless style or something. Then, when somebody responded to the negative tone, you're all fakey, "whaaaa, I said people would like it didn't I?" I guess in your tiny world that's what passes for being clever? Seems kind of 11-year-old girly behaviour to me, but hey if that's what blows your skirt up, have at it.

I guess Aqua Teen, Ripping Friends, and Sealab are wholesome family comedies then? Not to mention the Shin-chan dub which premiered there?

Yes, that's totally what I said. Not that this show's specific type of comedy isn't different then the lionshare of shows Adult Swim airs, non of those shows are half-hour (or 15 minute) long sex jokes, about cum or dicks. Except maybe that one episode of ATHF

I used Tara Strong and Tom Kenny as examples of two VO's who oft show up in numerous shows with recognizable voices. FUNi's VO's have plenty range, you're just used to hearing them a lot, which can happen just as easily with a Tom Kenny or Tara Strong range if you watch enough shows they appear in.

There are just as many VO's in American animation with limited range, that don't catch flak because someone likes them enough to keep hiring them.

Probably because no one really talks about American stuff here, so it's no big surprise you wouldn't see people complain.

Yes, Tom Kenny and Tara Strong are very overused and identical. Tara Strong has about 2 voices, one she does for girls and one she does for boys, and even they aren't all that different aside from a slight pitch change. Add an influx here or there and yeah, pretty easy to spot her in a crowd. Tom Kenny has a bit more range, but is still easy to pick out of a cast, especially when he laughs.

For the record, throw in Jason Marsden and Cree Summers while you're at it. I say, Marsden alone got tired aftering hearing him every 3 minutes in Skyrim, then when I moved on to Final Fantasy XIII-2 I nearly shut the game off. Nicole Sullivan as well. The point is the only reason it's not brought up as much is because those VAs don't do any real VAing work for anime, outside maybe a one off dub some trivia-hound could name, where as Funi is a regular licensing community which gets covered in the anime community. American cartoon VAs and anime VAs tend to stay apart outside rare circumstances.

My point was that outside of anime fandom, you hardly ever see people complain about these guys getting all the voice jobs.

Hell, even in anime fandom, probably 60% of female characters sound exactly the same, and nothing.

Umm, that was Board Admin who had previously re-named that very section (Other Anime) One Piece the month before. Renaming that section go more in hand with [as] not getting the show, as it concerns non-as anime. Also, they've never announced licenses that way.

Shin-chan's dub is far worse than anything Panty and Stocking has to offer. The worst joke in PSG involves either semen or poop. Shin-chan's dub regularly jokes about child abuse, abortions, miscarriages, and domestic violence. In addition to semen and poop. If they can air that, PSG wouldn't even make them bat an eye.

It's a difference of perspective. Is the cartoon fandom as big as the anime fandom? Probably not, so there's not much people to complain. Plus, I don't think they would sit around caring about the artistic and emotional complexities of the voice work in Fairly Odd Parents or Cow and Chicken. Reusing the same voices isn't really as immersion breaking in a kid's comedy cartoon as it is in a bigger medium like anime. Especially one where debates about Japanese voice-actors VS English-voice actors is already a common occurrence.

And yet it was promptly removed in the middle of the series, with no notice, and seemingly no attempt to buy anymore seasons.

Did you just say that the Anime fandom is bigger than the cartoon fandom? Look we can argue, but not if you're gonna make up stuff.

So that's a big fat no on having an actual counter to what I've said. I'm more or less indifferent to the casting and have no opinion of the dub because I haven't heard. My first post accurately reflects that but you're just going to keep getting pissy and slanging insults because since you can't disagree with what I said you might as well attack the person...I wonder when the forum rules will kick in regards to your flaming posts.

I don't think it was removed because its content was too offensive. [as] may not be interested in P&S but I doubt it is because it is too offensive for them. Maybe I need to revisit P&S but all I remember was a lot of gross out humor.

I am not responding to your opinions because I don't care about your opinion on this or any other matter. The only thing in this thread that interested me at all with respect to you is your trolling behaviour where you post something negative and then when another poster comments on that you pretend you weren't being negative. That's Trolling with a capital T.

Most Blu-Ray Players can play DVDs. I know my PS3 can and it has a Blu-Ray Player.
