Media jumped en masse on a sensational, untrue story because it got clicks and never looked back?

No way.

To be fair, if the sales impact was noticeable at all, that's still a pretty impressive achievement, even if the total impact was exaggerated.

It was good business only near the beginning, which is reasonable. Unless Nintendo does a really strong promotion and adds more to the game, I don't think we'll be seeing another business boon like before.

This doesn't surprise me since Pokémon Go itself was basically just one big exaggeration brought on by nostalgia. Rolling Eyes

Nintendo has nothing to do with Pokemon Go.

Hey, at least we're "looking back" (in a sense) with this article.

I still am, but I didn't actually get to start playing until mid-August either, after some of the hype started to die out. Even now I still find it exciting to play because there's still a bunch I hadn't done. Still missing a lot of Pokemon and I hadn't done any training or gym battles yet, plus I know there's a couple more things I need to unlock as I level.

Where I live, every weekend I go out, there's usually 50+ kids and adults camped out in this little park by the lake milking the Pokestops for all they're worth (and since that park is an art district, there's about 20 or so stops within a 1/2 mile walk, plus about 15 more in the downtown area and 7-8 gyms). So it seems to be pretty popular around here still.

I know, probably not saying much, but I personally think that's impressive.

It's easier said than done though. Things become the hot new thing and then yesterday's news at a faster and faster rate each year. If Pokémon GO intends to reach the heights it used to, it'd better bring in something eye-catching and spectacular.

Areas with a high Pokéstop concentration still get a lot due to being popular grind spots. There is a roughly half-mile stretch in Montrose, CA, that has about 20 Pokéstops, for instance, and the area also had around 8 or 9 Gyms. As a result Pokémon GO players from the surrounding areas who know about this flock on over.
