WTF

I know menstruation is natural; but writing stories about it is still quite weird.

So they took You's name and added an i instead of a u.

This is cool idea (although the Ribon spinoff one raises a bit of an eyebrow from me).

I wonder if we'll see other digital "theme-based" manga magazines in the future.
When things were all print it wasn't really practical to make things that specific, but if we're talking digital publications it's a lot cheaper to spin up like, "specialized" genre magazines/collections.

What's wrong with that? Ribon is one of the few remaining manga magazines that still target one specific demographic, and that demographic is one where information on menstruation is especially important - to provide information and prevent misinformation, and perhaps even more importantly to make girls understand that menstruation is a normal thing, not shameful or weird that needs to be kept a secret. (Deeply ingrained social biases against menstruation are one thing, but even those aside starting to menstruate can be a really weird physical experience that may be difficult to process. It definitely was for me, and I'd been raised by a very open-minded mother!)

Never said there was anything wrong with it.
You are totally right, but it's not actually going to be IN ribbon. (As far as the article says) So I'm wondering how a spinoff of a ribbon series in a collection of manga targeted for various ages about this topic is gonna work.

I don't quite understand - for one, it may not even be a spinoff, and two, even if it is, it's just a one-shot and likely written in a way to be accessible even for those who don't know the original manga. And with the initiative targeting a relatively wide age range (although it seems to me they're focusing on younger girls) I'm sure there's not going to be anything particularly "adult" in the collection that might not be appropriate for younger girls - after all, the topic is menstruation. Even if they follow up with safe sex or something, one can talk about sex without being porny about it, and frankly, seeing the kind of manga often serialized in these magazines (Ribon included) and knowing from experience what young girls can be up to on their own...yeah. (That spicy fanfic you read? Don't even wonder about the age of its author, you really don't want to know.)
