The Tokyo Big Sight exhibition center is best known for hosting the biannual Comic Market dōjinshi event. The summer and winter events bring in throngs on fans numbering over half a million in three days. Last weekend, the convention center saw another huge crowd with lines even rivaling Comiket. The sea of people were there for Haru Comic City 21 on Sunday, another dōjinshi event with encompassing smaller events focusing on Basara, Ace of Diamond, Tiger & Bunny, Hinomaru Zumō, Gundam and Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, Reborn, Attack on Titan, Blue Exorcist, Mr. Osomatsu, and Tōken Ranbu.

Many of the participants at the event tweeted their experiences while waiting to get in, noting that many of visitors were there specifically for the Mr. Osomatsu event.

Analysis author, Meiji University Yoshihiro Yonezawa Memorial Library staff member, and NiconicoGakkai β executive committee member "myrmecoleon" predicted a major increase in Mr. Osomatsu circles after Comiket 89 based off the show's popularity on pixiv. Since the event, the Mr. Osomatsu was put on the cover of issues of PASH!, Otomedia, and Animage, causing the issues to sell out and to PASH!'s March issue printing an unprecedented 100,000 copies. The characters recently collaborated with Japan's national baseball team.
