posted on by Jennifer Sherman
A special project for "Hirohiko Araki JoJo Exhibition: Ripples of Adventure," an exhibition celebrating the 30th anniversary of Hirohiko Araki's JoJo's Bizarre Adventure manga, recently conducted a fan survey to reveal the "ultimate JoJo fan image." The "JoJo Sapiens" project revealed the results on Tuesday.
The project's website revealed an image of the ultimate JoJo fan based on the results of the survey. Araki also created an original Stand inspired by the results.
More than 17,000 people responded to the survey's questions in the following categories: Body, Love, Soul, Favorite, Mind, Fetishism, Money, Speed, Past, and JoJo. For some questions, the project website posted a selection of typed responses from fans, including some responses in English.
According to the survey results, the average JoJo fan is 24.9 years old and 165.0 centimeters (about 5 feet and 5 inches) tall. Among respondents, 50.2% were male, 48.3% were female, and 1.5% identified as other. The franchise's fans have dated an average of 2.9 people each, but only 33.6% currently have a significant other.
Respondents' favorite food was ramen, and their favorite non-Araki manga is One Piece. Their favorite color is blue, and 44.9% are cat people rather than dog people. Respondents' #1 fear was their fellow humans, followed by ghosts and death. The thing they said they want to do more than anything before they die is travel the world.
As far as the JoJo franchise is concerned, 19.1% of fans listed the manga's fifth arc, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind, as their favorite. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable ranked second with 17.5% of votes, and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders came in third with 17.3% of votes. Respondents' top three favorite Stands were Star Platinum, Killer Queen, and Crazy Diamond. Their favorite fight was the battle between Jotaro Kujo and DIO in Stardust Crusaders, and the character hairstyle they want to try most is Jolyne Cujoh's.
The full results of the survey are available on the JoJo Sapiens project's website.
The "Hirohiko Araki JoJo Exhibition: Ripples of Adventure" exhibit will be held at The National Art Center, Tokyo from August 24 to October 1. The JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind anime will debut on television this October.
