Lookism, Viral Hit Creator Taejun Pak Confirms Divorce

Taejun Pak, the webtoon creator best known for Lookism, has confirmed that he divorced his former spouse, Soo-jung Choi, while firmly denying rumors of a property division lawsuit.
In an interview with Korean entertainment media outlet OSEN published on Friday, Pak explained, “It is true that we divorced. Discussions began early last year, and the divorce was finalized through mediation in August 2024.” Addressing speculation about legal disputes, he added, “That is completely untrue. It was an amicable divorce, not litigation. There was no lawsuit over property division — we mutually agreed on everything. I didn't want to make this public because it's not pleasant news, and I was concerned it might negatively affect the other party.”
Pak and Choi married in 2020 after a long-term relationship but went their separate ways four years later.
Pak is one of South Korea's most influential webtoon creators. His breakout hit Lookism remains a cornerstone of Naver Webtoon's global catalog, amassing billions of views worldwide. He has also created or contributed to numerous other successful titles, including Viral Hit and My Life as a Loser.

Lookism inspired an animated series from Studio Mir that debuted on Netflix in December 2022. Viral Hit inspired a television anime adaptation that debuted in April 2024. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired.
